Christian Heurich came to the United States with $200 in his pocket, and by his death was Washington,DC’s most successful brewer.  His first brewery was a single-dwelling brewhouse located in the heart of Dupont Circle at M and 20th Streets NW.  As his business prospered, his brewery grew to encompass an entire city block and then eventually became a full-scale brewery complex by the Potomac River.

In keeping with Heurich’s entrepreneurial spirit, we are proud to support those who share his ideals, from local artists and crafters to makers and bakers.  We empathize with these creative entrepreneurs who face increased competition for resources, especially studio space and retail opportunities . Each year we partner with numerous local artisans as part of our traditional German Christkindlmarkt; on the first weekend of December, we open our garden gates and invite the public to shop their goods and tour our historic house museum.  We are excited to begin renting studio space in our carriage house this Spring.
